Overview
In June 2028, we plan to unveil one of the world’s largest tank-tops—measuring over 100 meters in length—in Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture.
To realize a key scene in which this enormous tank-top is filmed from above by a drone, we will hold a two-year exhibition titled “The Tank-Top Shop” at STUDIO KONMASA. The exhibition is intended both as a production site and as a means of fundraising.
All admission fees and merchandise sales from this exhibition will be used entirely for production costs.
The world-scale tank-top will be made using Gokayama washi, a traditional Japanese paper produced in Nanto City, which is also home to the UNESCO World Heritage site Ainokura Gassho-zukuri Village.
As part of a regional revitalization effort, we hope to create this work together with our visitors.
After completion, the giant tank-top will be dismantled. Portions may be perforated with holes, used in local events, or donated to organizations and individuals who work with washi.
Until now, the tank-top has been a deeply personal record for me. This project is a challenge to transform it into a public record.
If you saw an absurdly huge tank-top, wouldn’t you laugh—on many levels?
A “challenge” can become someone’s courage, and a “smile” can become someone’s joy.
That is why I welcome you not as customers, but as co-creators.
This is not customer service, but collaboration. The moment you step in, you are already a tank-topper.
(That said, I will still properly charge you.)
The production activities are simple and accessible, such as sewing washi paper with a sewing machine or attaching buttons—anyone can take part.
